In the field of Speech Language Pathology, we always use what’s called “evidence based practice.” This means that everything we do, including treatments and the way we deliver services, must be supported by legitimate research. The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) has published some great research about tele-therapy and its effectiveness on their website. This research found that in most cases, tele-therapy was just as effective as in-person therapy. Students of this generation are very well adapted to the use of technology for education. Many school districts throughout the country have been using this service delivery model for years and have adapted to it well.
